December ’10 – NZ blogs sitemeter ranking

Here are the rankings of New Zealand blogs with publicly available statistics for December 2010. These rely on blogs having sitemeters which allow public access to the stats. There are currently just over 230 blogs on the list.

Yell out if you are not on the list bust wish to be and I will help if I can.

The 7 day rankings are still available any time at NZ blogs average daily visits. It’s worth following a few blogs on the daily visit list. Ranking is a lot more volatile and it’s interesting to watch blogs move up and down and speculate on the reasons.

The blogs are listed in the table below, together with monthly visits and page view numbers for December, 2010.

While monthly rankings don’t change as frequently as the 7 day rankings the longer time may be more useful because small fluctuations average out.

Meanwhile I am still keen to hear of any other blogs with publicly available sitemeter or visitor stats that I have missed. Contact me if you know of any.

    David Parker – I am happy to write a post on Treadgold’s claims. I have asked him what programme he used for the data and the filename (it’s obviously not one of the stat counting programmes.) I need this information to write anything meaningful.

    So far he has not responded to my question.

    Treadgold admits that he doesn’t know what the figures mean. Clearly they are not the same data provided by stat counters.

    You don’t seriously believe Treadgold’s claim do you? That he is the 4th ranking NZ blog?

    Or perhaps not the same as the ones you are used to. You did say ” Nor am I a specialist in web site logging” so I guess that means you are an amateur. Not that there is anything wrong with that. It just means your knowledge is limited.
    I’m no expert either but the schedule he put up is in a format I have seen before produced internally for the blog owner.
    Richard never claimed he is the 4th ranking blog. Those were your words after seeing his schedule. Frankly I dont think he really cares where he is ranked. Its just not important to him.
    Not sure how he can assauge your doubts about the accuracy of his data apart from what he has put up.
    But casting doubt is good excuse for you to weasel out though eh.
    Call him a liar and say he refuses to back up what he says. Par for the course isnt it?

    David Parker – I am still waiting for Richard Treadgold’s reply to my question about the software and file name. He seems to be ignoring me.

    No – Richard claimed that he was getting about 3500 page views per day. That would place him about 4th in the ranking. His claimed visits/day of about 1120 would place him about 6th or 7th in ranking above (can’t access the daily ranking currently to check that).

    Maybe he doesn’t care where he is ranked – I certainly don’t. But he was the one making the claim and suggesting more traffic than Hot Topic gets (“2.5 times”). The blogs on the ranking list all use stat counters – Treadold’s blog doesn’t.

    But certainly I am interested in getting anyone seriously blogging in NZ to make their stats available for inclusion on the list. This helps us all. Of course this requires use of a reliable stat counter – not loose interpretation of a log file.

    If Richard wishes to clarify his data he will. He doesn’t understand it at the moment but he is a better position than us to check what it means.

    Meanwhile I will do my own research, when I get time, and attempt to get to the bottom of this. I will treat it as a learning experience.

    I think there is a blog post in it. Just wish Richard would swallow his pride and help.
