I don’t get offended or punitive when the cats jump on my keyboard. Though sometimes my hand makes a fast movement to block the way.
Same maybe with someone with Tourette’s syndrome automatically making rude gestures or words.
We may be hurt by an action or word. But I think offense is a bit different; it may be more when we believe the action may damage our image.
Take a scientist being abused by someone who does not understand, or pretends not to. Then should offense be taken to give the abuser equality?
