NZ blog sitemeter ranking – May ’09

I  have managed to find 47 NZ blogs with public sitemeter stats. these are ranked in the table below. The April data was re-ranked from the previous post (Ranking NZ blogs with sitemeter data) to accommodate extra blogs and enable a proper indication of change between April and May.

There may be a few changes as self-reporting blogs post their May data.
Update: The list has been updated to include 53 blogs.

Always interested in hearing about NZ blogs with public sitemeter stats that I have missed. For those bloggers who don’t use sitemeters but are interested have a look at sitemeter, StatCounter, ShinyStat or search for other sitemeters.

NZ Blog ranks – May ‘09

I have again ranked New Zealand blogs using the methods described previously (see Ranking methods for NZ blogs). Briefly this involves ranking each blog using four ranking indices (Alexa Rank, Alexa NZ Rank, Technorati Rank and Google Page Rank), five link counts (Google Web Links, Google Blog Links, Yahoo Links, All the Web Links and Alexa Links) and two RSS Subscription Counts (Google Readers Subscriptions and Bloglines Subscriptions). Aggregate ranks are then calculated for each category (Ranking index. Links and RSS Subscriptions) and a total rank combining all eleven indices.

The aggregate ranks are given in the table below. Ranking for the individual indices is available as a pdf document. This time I included 246 New Zealand blogs but details for only the top 100 are given and the rest groups in alphabetical order. The full ranking data for each of the 11 indices is available as a pdf document.

NZ Blog ranks – April ’09

This presents another attempt to rate NZ blogs. Again I used the methods described in Ranking methods for NZ blogs. Besides an overall aggregate rating using 11 statistical measures I have also provided aggregate ranks for three criteria:

Ranking statistics

Linking statistics

RSS feed subscriptions

Alexa Rank Alexa Links Google Reader
Alexa NZ Rank Google Blog Links Bloglines
Technorati Rank Google Web links
Google Page Rank Yahoo Links
All the Web Links

The new feature is that I have included Bloglines subscription numbers in the RSS subscription ratings (Thanks to homepaddock for requesting this and david w for helping me work out how to get the data).

OK – this is the result of my attempt at ranking NZ blogs using the methods described in Ranking methods for NZ blogs. Besides an overall aggregate rating using 10 statistical measures I have also provided aggregate ranks for three criteria:

Ranking statistics

Linking statistics

RSS feed subscriptions

Alexa Rank Alexa Links Google Reader
Alexa NZ Rank Google Blog Links
Technorati Rank Google Web links
Google Page Rank Yahoo Links
All the Web Links

At this stage I have included only 85 blogs (taken from those rating in first 60 of Tumeke and Half Done lists, plus a few extra of personal interest). I am also only reporting here the top 70 of these. For a full list and full ranking details for each of the 10 statistical measures download NZ Blog Rankings March 09.pdf.

So have fun comparing your rank below with those determined by by Tumeke and Halfdone. Don’t forget each survey uses different methods so results will differ and should be interpreted intelligently. Continue reading
