Dawkins to appear at Auckland Writers & Readers Festival lineup

Well, by video link anyway (see Scoop: Auckland Writers & Readers Festival lineup).

The BBC’s special correspondent from Karachi and novelist Mohammed Hanif (A Case of Exploding Mangoes was longlisted for the 2008 Man Booker Prize) will be on the ground as will popular science writer and broadcaster Marcus Chown, while Richard Dawkins has agreed to beam in for a special video conference event to mark the inauguration of a Royal Society science writing prize.”

The festival takes place in May

  1. A small quibble (or axe to grind if you prefer). My impression is that at present the RSNZ science “writing” prize is actually a science journalism prize, owing to the way it was assessed. There is a distinction between the two and I’ve two minds about if the RSNZ should be supporting science journalism as opposed to science writing. (Or, alternatively, that the assessment needs tweaking.)

  2. This was my first time at the Perth Writer’s Festival and I just loved it! Now I really understand why you are so excited about your festival in May.
