Testing the God theory

I enjoyed this video.

It is a full lecture but well worth watching – especially if you are interested in the science-religion debates.

Sean Carroll presents these cosmological arguments well – and his analysis is far more up to date – and “with it” than those theologians who venture into the area. Just compare this with the rubbish W. L. Craig comes out with.

This lecture really puts the theological argument that God is a “better explanation” of life than the multiverse into perspective.

Rubbish. Carroll claims that postulating one possible universe without God discounts God, yet even if you don’t like Craig, no less a logistician than Alvin Plantinga shows far more convincingly that if God exists in even one possible world, He must exist in all possible worlds. See, this is why atheist physicists hate philosophy, because it gives them knots on the heads of their arguments.

  2. Actually Plantinga doesn’t impress me either.

I thought Sean very successfully showed why the common theological argument that a god theory is more likely than a multiverse one is false.

Whatever that means it is surely spoken like a true philosopher.
