April ’15 – NZ blogs sitemeter ranking

Social-Media_EmailImage credit: Hosting A Competition To Increase Blog Visits

There are now over 300 blogs on the list, although I am weeding out those which are no longer active or have removed public access to sitemeters. (Let me know if I weed out yours by mistake, or get your stats wrong).

Every month I get queries from people wanting their own blog included. I encourage and am happy to respond to queries but have prepared a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) people can check out. Have a look at NZ Blog Rankings FAQ. This is particularly helpful to those wondering how to set up sitemeters.

Please note, the system is automatic and relies on blogs having sitemeters which allow public access to the stats.

Here are the rankings of New Zealand blogs with publicly available statistics for April 2015. Ranking is by visit numbers. I have listed the blogs in the table below, together with monthly visits and page view numbers.

Meanwhile I am still keen to hear of any other blogs with publicly available sitemeter or visitor stats that I have missed. Contact me if you know of any or wish help adding publicly available stats to your bog.

You can see data for previous months at Blog Ranks

  1. Just a question for you

It says at the top of your post: “There are now over 300 blogs on the list, although I am weeding out those which are no longer active or have removed public access to sitemeters. (Let me know if I weed out yours by mistake, or get your stats wrong).”

I can not find Whale Oil’s stat meter on the front page nor any page. Something up there?

  2. Reblogged this on Talking Auckland and commented:
While quieter last month Talking Auckland did improve its rankings to 21 (well 20 as Whale Oil is not publicly showing his Stats Meter) up from 24 in March.

Again a thank you to readers and the growing numbers of commenters. Without you Talking Auckland would not be possible.

This month we have the Budget Committee debating the Long Term Plan, and myself due to give a presentation to the Auckland Development Committee on sub regional development.

Also this month starts the first of my Unitary Plan mediation/hearing sessions as well with Transport as the first topic being transport. Fun times ahead.

  3. Ross: Sigh… Always nice to point out the bleeding obvious to an internet idiot.

You won’t find out sitemeter on the our front page either, or on The DailyBlog nor on many of sites on this list. That is because we use statcounter or one of the other programs that Ken picks up on.

If you look at the source for whaleoil, you’ll find that a search for “statcounter” will show the javascript source showing that is what they are now using. Whoever has the technical expertise at Whaleoil (ie not Cameron) probably got irritated at how damn slow sitemeter for browsers on a large site and switched counters.

For that matter, even if you use sitemeter, you don’t have to display it for it to work. You just need active javascript. A moments examination of the code makes that completely obvious. But I guess you are just as illiterate reading HTML and javascript as you are just a run of the mill fuckwit with your penis enlarger substitution therapy..

Perhaps next time you’ll ask a question before revealing your abject ignorance. Then you won’t get nasty old sysops educating you the sarcastic way. You will just get an answer to your question.

    🙂

Wow Lynn, that was a pretty uncalled for little wobbly mate. If people being unable to read JavaScript or HTML gets you that worked up you might want to think about getting out more…
